Despite other authors suggestions, there is no indication that the disease is arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia. Other non-invasive studies like nuclear magnetic resonance of the heart and echocardiography (which are available in the majority of the patients) are normal.

 

The genetic defects in Brugada syndrome are not related to the loci of right ventricular dysplasia, and none of the families studied is linked to these loci
